Resource Use
NSC has been conducting resource use studies as part of major environmental impact assessment projects and project monitoring for almost 30 years. NSC has also participated extensively in post-project evaluations of impacts on Aboriginal communities. Aboriginal traditional knowledge (ATK) and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ) studies are an essential component of Environmental Impact Statements, project monitoring, community planning/resource management and parks and protected area planning. Resource use surveys provide critical and contemporary knowledge on the environment accumulated through generations of knowledge holders.
